The Anchored School
Our 21st century learning environment relies on learner portfolios and exhibitions. The Anchored School does not encourage learning through test taking but instead hands on experiences which allow our learners to connect the real world to their everyday lab discoveries. We integrate mindfulness and focus on character development. Using the Socratic method learners’ critical thinking skills are challenged. Learners work with peers to solve problems by discovering answers to their questions rather than relying on a teacher to “teach” them the correct answer. We believe that education should include not only academics but spiritual growth.
We have selected material that aims to educate the whole child in a variety of ways. Understanding that each child develops at their own pace is the underlying meaning of the name The Anchored School. We respect the individuality of each child as we incorporate developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities into our educational center.
